Bluebeard’s Door: A Threshold into Intuition
The tale of Bluebeard is often told as a dark warning - a story about forbidden doors and dangerous secrets. Yet under the skin of the tale, there’s another invitation: to trust the voice within. That inner knowing senses truth before it has a name, and asks us to step beyond naivety into deeper self-knowledge.
The “forbidden” door in the story is not only a barrier. It is a threshold - a liminal place where we are called to meet the unknown parts of ourselves. Bluebeard’s story reminds us that the real danger lies not in opening the door, but in silencing the intuition that urges us to look.
In my painting Bluebeard, I explored the tension between the visible and the hidden. The work invites you to pause before your own thresholds, to feel both the fear and the courage that arise when you choose to listen deeply to the quiet wisdom inside.
